The traditional hot-bed for virtuosic percussive sounds is the island-nation of Cuba. Tonight’s presentation is a multi-generational lineup of stellar musicians, some of whose lineage is rooted in Afro Cuban music history: (Candido Camero – pioneer in the use of double and triple congas), Jesus “Chuchito” Valdés, Jr – son of Chucho Valdés, grandson of the famous Bebo Valdés and honorary members, Puerto Rican-born master percussionist Bobby Sanabria and L.A-based Frank Fontaine and Rene Camacho. This is Latin jazz at its best, performed by a living legend, along with future Hall of Famers. This presentation honors the legacy of C. Bernard Jackson.
