The extraordinary Northern India Gypsy brass ensemble, the Jaipur Kawa Brass Band makes its U.S. debut on our Watercourt stage. Spontaneous improvisation meets instrumental finesse in this collective’s wild repertoire. Inherited from the old British Empire, the brass band now belongs to Indian tradition, and is used for national and religious celebrations, popular festivals or life events such as weddings. Drawing its influence from classical and traditional Indian music as well as popular Bollywood songs, Japiur Kawa's pacesetting percussion accompanies a dancer/fakir and makes the group's performance a spectacle of the highest order.
