Grand Performances is one of Southern California’s largest presenters of free performing arts programs and an important summer destination in the Grand Avenue Arts District of downtown Los Angeles. Over the last 30 years, the organization has become a national leader in its field and an innovator respected for its commitment to serving the arts, artists and community. The organization was launched in the late ‘80s at a time of redevelopment in the Bunker Hill area of downtown Los Angeles in a unique long-term funding and venue use agreement between the property owners and the City. In 1997, Grand Performances became a non-profit. With a long history of introducing talented local and international artists to our community and a decades-long commitment to presenting contemporary artists from Africa, Latin America and Central/East Asia, our diverse audience base continues to grow. Our audience is multigenerational, multicultural, multi-ethnic and comes from every socio-economic group and geographic area of L.A. County creating an inclusive environment ripe for cultural exchange and community building. Grand Performances makes every effort to utilize our unique combination of venue and program to serve the community and enliven our public space.
