Last year's surprise hit, the Bay Area's award-winning Hula company returns for two performances. Directed by Irvine Foundation-fellow Patrick Makuakane, this company has been hailed for its commitment to the traditions of Hawai while creating a new look for Hula-Hula Mua. This distinct new style builds on the traditional foundations of the dance but is danced to a full range of non-traditional music forms from Opera to techno. This is a *not-to-be-missed" program and will open with a presentation of the more traditional hula by one of Los Angeles* leading Hulaus, Hula Halau 0 Kamuela Elua.
