Bees & Things & Flowers: A Tribute to the Music of Roy Ayers by Sly5thAve Ft Special Guest Kassa Overall + Linafornia Celebrates J Dilla’s ‘Donuts’

  • Grand Performances 350 South Grand Avenue Los Angeles, CA, 90071 United States (map)

Fresh off the success of last year’s California Love: A Symphonic Tribute to Dr. Dre, producer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist Sly5thAve returns with a 12-piece ensemble to perform classical arrangements of Roy Ayers’ catalogue. A pioneering jazz-funk vibraphonist and producer, Ayers continues to be one of the most heavily sampled artists of all-time, by artists like Kendrick Lamar and A Tribe Called Quest. In tribute, the performance will also feature reimaginings of contemporary works containing Roy Ayers samples. Presented by Mochilla & Colelab. To begin the event, Linafornia will perform a DJ set honoring the 20th anniversary of J Dilla’s celebrated Donuts album
